It's a widely held opinion among dubs that the children, even if they're apostate, should take care of their parents when the parents get old and need help.

What's ironic about this is that if the adult children have left the dubs, the dubs call them apostate, vomit-slurping dogs, who merit shunning and special hatred from God. Yet the dubs will still ignore their faithful elderly, expecting the apostate dog-children to come to the rescue. I'm surprised the dubs think apostates will still have natural concern for their parents. I guess we're reprehensible only when it suits them. How very convenient for them.

This is the case of my own mother. She's almost housebound, yet receives very few visits or calls from her loving fellow dubs, let alone any kind of help. After my apostate sibs and I are done with the vomit, etc., we go over to cook, clean, do the yard work and whatever my mother needs to stay comfortable. Not too shabby for god-hating apostates, huh?

It's funny that you should lump the lack of religion with lack of patriotism, etc. My son was raised "bereft of religion." He's a highly intelligent and educated young man with a son of his own, who will in turn be raised as he was. There's no shortage on my son's part of patriotism, virtue, and integrity. I'm very proud of him.

When you make blanket statements like that, you should be aware that it's like spitting in the face of those who don't happen to fit your narrow interpretation of what attributes make up a good person.

It's an attack, as I'm sure you are well aware. So much for discussing religion "politely."

perusing the coverage of the 2013 dc spewings about apostates, the wt claims that apostates are "liars" and speak "twisted things".

this is their definition of apostates.. now, the reality is that sites such as paul's excellent jwfacts.com, books like coc and isocf, by ray franz, the works of olaf jonsson, penton and others, all write what is true !.

we are careful on here to present that which is true, at least i hope we are !.

Thanks for the list, BB. The first point is actually the only activity I've done that could be interpreted as apostacy by the WTS. And even then, I don't celebrate the religious aspects of Christmas and Easter. For me they're secular holidays that are fun for the whole family.

So, I guess I'm still a dub, though faded for 35 years, in good standing. What a plus.

Most of my immediate family left when I did. My mother and brother stayed in. Because I didn't want to jeopardize being able to talk with them, I never actively challenged them. My mother tried to talk me back in, but when I had questions she couldn't answer, she eventually gave up.

My brother has never asked me about my decision to leave, and I have never asked him why he stayed. If he had ever shown any interest in discussing it, I would gladly have accommodated him.
